Although so much has already happened this Month, the last two weeks of May promise to be just as exciting. As discussed in earlier posts, we have the Safety Walk coming-up on Thursday and the Community Yard Sale on the 25th. Before we get to this week’s Cabbagetown sales and events, acknowledgements are due: the Forsythia Festival was a huge hit again this year and could not have reached the same success without the support of the community. At the Cabbagetown Youth Centre’s free Performing Arts Camp, 150 kids get to participate in the arts every summer. Campers will show what they learned at the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts, when the camp holds its annual year-end performance. The little ones all from the Cabbagetown, St. James Town and Regent Park communities will showcase their talents in dance, drama, vocals and songwriting. The performing arts camp is one of several initiatives the CYC holds each year to give children within the community a chance to develop and learn new skills from positive elements.
