I had the great opportunity to be part of a historic walk in Cabbagetown showcasing some of it’s great residents. The walk took about 1.5 hours to complete over side walks as we walked through streets and alleys.
This gave me a chance to show case the different styles of houses that are nestled in Cabbagetown and show the in my video.
We made multiple stops during our tour and following are some of the names that I could remember.
We started off on Winchester and went by homes of:
- Samuel Johnson Boddy
- Doug Hennings
- Ernest MacMillan
- Daniel Lamb
We carried on to Necropolis Cemetery where our guide gave us the history of Riverdale Farm and Zoo which was a gracious gift from Daniel Lamb.
There were numerous other mentions including some that weren’t even on the brochure we were handed. I’m definitely video tapping the next one completely so I don’t miss anything. I hope you enjoy the brief overview video and pictures. There are more walks coming in the near future and I will be posting about them soon.
I made couple of mistakes about the credits for the tours. The tours are organized through Heritage Toronto Walk and were lead by Cabbagetown Preservation Authority. Here’s the link of all the amazing people that have lived in Cabbagetown.
Cheers,
