Earlier this week, we discussed a few Cabbagetown events carrying into the first few weeks of June. As if there’s not a lot going on already, it appears as if there are more things to look out for this month:
The Annual General Meeting of the Cabbagetown Residents Association
Thursday, June 13th, 7pm at the Stout Irish Pub (221 Carlton Street), CRA members — past and present — are invited to attend this year’s AGM and Wine Tasting event, hosted by Lifford Wine Agency. If you are interested in this event, please RSVP to Lindsay at info@cabbagetowner.com by June 10th. For members of the CRA, this event will be free admission; for non-members, there will be a $5 entrance fee. We encourage everyone to come out to this informative session next Thursday, to learn about what’s going on in the community and to sample an amazing selection of wine.

Keeping You Up-to-Date with What’s Going On in the Community
Urban Roots Youth
In partnership with Regent Park Focus, Urban Roots Youth is preparing for their summer video project, titled “Food Stories: Growing Up.” For those unfamiliar with the program, Urban Roots Youth is an organization for individuals ages 15-29 in Regent Park, Cabbagetown, and St. Jamestown, who are dedicated to learning about and promoting awareness for food justice issues. Many of the youth involved will continue to tend various gardens throughout these neighbourhoods over the next few months. For those interested in learning more, the program also runs a booth over at the Regent Park Farmer’s Market.
Waterfront Toronto
In the West Don Lands and East Bayfront, construction for the 2015 Pan Am Games nears completion. Along the Don River, extensive work has been done to redevelop the area, including many new condos and low-income housing. Take a minute to read last month’s Waterfront Toronto’s newsletter to learn how the redevelopment may impact our community. As well, there’s a new YMCA group on Cherry Street; to learn more click here.
Visit our website again next Tuesday for more Cabbagetown events, sales, and updates! Enjoy the weekend.
