Café Olya
It looks as though Cabbagetown has a trendy new addition. Earlier this month, Café Olya moved shop from Newmarket on to Parliament Street, just south of Wellesley. Residents of the neighbourhood are ecstatic to welcome this cozy café to the community.
Café Olya’s “Strong Coffee and Delicate Pastries” are unparalleled. As a micro-bakery, owners Mike Tasso and Olyana Zhuke truly prove their might in the kitchen as they unveil new-baked goods weekly. Using ingredients from Riverdale Farm and Evergreen Brick Works, the café likes to keep things local and home-made. Something to appreciate: fresh batches are made daily – they never reheat and do not use pre-assembled recipes.
Although the pastries have become Café Olya’s central feature, do not under estimate their coffee selection. Primarily serving Brooklyn roast, Café Grumpy, Café Olya also alternates local blends week-to-week. Here’s what is on their menu this week:
- Early in the week the bakery will serve heartier pastries like scones and muffins. As the weekend approaches, the menu will lean towards sweets. Be sure to come in to try their delectable tarts, turnovers, and croissants.
- As the last order of Cage Grumpy reaches its end, they will be serving Canadian roasts such as Fernwood and Dark City.
Whether you are stopping in for a quick snack or spending the afternoon, Café Olya is the perfect shop to indulge and a great environment to work. Take advantage of the on-premise wifi.
